For the past 4 years, Eternal Armory has operated out of 2 locations, our 5000 Square foot shop in rural Willard, Missouri and “The Art Department” in B’s garage. All of our “clean” operations such as resin casting, mold making, sculpting, 3D printing, Vinyl Decal work, Packing & shipping, consultation, sewing, and order logistics have been performed in either D’s home office, or B’s kitchen/living room/dining room/EVERYWHERE. Today, we are proud to announce that this is all about to get a lot more efficient. Eternal Armory is moving all our clean work and operations to downtown Willard, Missouri! The building we are moving into is nearly as exciting as the prospect of using the space to be more efficient.
We will be renting the original Willard Bank. The Bank was opened at this location in 1906. In the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 11th, 1908, 5 armed men entered the bank and applied 3 charges of Nitroglycerine to the vault door. It was enough to destroy the vault door and crack the concrete floor. After running across Jackson Street and mounting rail handcarts, the men exchanged gunfire with the locals as they pumped the cart away into the darkness. They got away with around $1300 for their efforts. The story of the Willard bank heist spread as far as the Los Angeles papers. The bank closed its doors in the 1930’s as a result of the Great Depression and the building has been used as many different businesses since. It is one of few examples of the original Willard downtown area that still retains much of its original exterior.
Eternal Armory is very excited to become a part of the Willard Downtown community. (and to make a bit of history of our own!) We will be setting up shop over the next couple of weeks for the building to be used as a work studio for us, with the future intent of having a retail presence to augment our online offerings.
Stay tuned for new announcements and, if you see us inside working, come by 100 E. Jackson and say hello!
